Menstrual cups should be inserted at a 45-degree angle, not straight up (the normal angle of the vaginal canal). Allow your cup to open just inside the vaginal entrance, with the stem still protruding, then gently push it into position with your index finger on the base of the cup.

A menstrual cup is a small, flexible cup made of silicone or rubber that is inserted into the vagina to catch the menstrual flow rather than absorbing it like a tampon or pad. After eight to 12 hours, you simply remove the cup, empty it and wash it with soap and water before reinserting it.

The most effective way is to boil your menstrual cup just as you did before you started using it. You can choose to boil it on the stove or even use a special container. It is recommended to boil it for 3 to 5 minutes then it's ready to be stored until your next cycle.
